Twitch Interactive, Amazon.com, Inc. is partially managed by Twitch. It was launched in June 2011 as a spin-off from the general-interest streaming platform Justin. tvContent on the site can be viewed live or on-demand on video. The games featured on Twitch’s current homepage are listed by audience preference and include genres such as real-time strategy games (RTS), fighting games, racing games, and first-person shooters.

One of Twitch’s amazing aspects is its live and interactive nature. Traditional media often offers pre-packaged content, making viewers passive consumers. Sources reported that the rumored Google had fallen through the deal and allowed Amazon to bid, with Forbes reporting that Google had backed out of the deal, due to potential anti-trust concerns surrounding it and its current ownership of YouTube. The acquisition closed on September 25, 2014. Take-Two Interactive, which had a 2% stake at the time of the acquisition, posted a loss of $22 million.

Beyond gaming, Twitch has expanded its offerings to include different categories, including music, cooking, fitness, and talk shows. These features have expanded Twitch’s appeal beyond the gaming community, attracting viewers with a variety of interests and tastes.
