Daffy Duck is one of Warner Bros.’ most beloved cartoon characters, first appearing in the 1937 short Porky’s Duck Hunt. Created during the Golden Age of American animation, Daffy is known for his zany personality, exaggerated voice, and iconic lisp. His voice was initially brought to life by legendary voice actor Mel Blanc, who gave him his distinctive, lisping speech, which became a defining trait of the character.

Daffy is often portrayed as a foil to other characters, particularly Bugs Bunny, with whom he has a famously adversarial yet comedic rivalry. Unlike the cool and confident Bugs, Daffy is often portrayed as neurotic, jealous, and ambitious, but with a lot of bad luck and a knack for getting into absurd situations. This often sets him up as a sort of “anti-hero” figure in the Looney Tunes cast.

Over the decades, Daffy’s character has evolved from a wild, slapstick prankster to a more selfish and cynical character, often portrayed as desperate for fame and recognition, though he remains lovable in his own chaotic way. His versatility has allowed him to appear in various styles and adaptations, from traditional shorts to TV shows (The Looney Tunes Show) and films (Space Jam and Looney Tunes: Back in Action).

Daffy’s animated appearances showcase slapstick humor, clever dialogue, and satire, making him a beloved character across generations. He is remembered for classic catchphrases like “You’re despicable!” and the ever-popular “Woo-hoo! Woo-hoo!”
